TCS students and the endless problem of not cleaning up

TCS students seem to have a problem with cleaning up after themselves and organizing their mess after class, which leaves an excessive amount of work to the maintenance people that break their back cleaning after them.

The problem doesn’t only affect the school classrooms; it also affects the green areas, the cafeterias, and the coliseums, students leave trash everywhere and maintenance people pay the price for it.

“To clean up every classroom in the middle school and high school, we take up to 30 to 35 minutes, which is a lot considering the number of classrooms that the school has.” Claudia Penagos middle school cleaning lady said.

Taking that much time to clean each class is caused by all of the mess that students leave around the class, they leave desks all over the place, they throw trash on the floor and leave the classroom made a mess and then the cleaning people break their backs to have everything ready for the next day.

“ I think that the main reason why TCS students are so disorganized is that since they have maids at home that cleans up after them always, they think that the workers here at school are here to do the same thing.” Esteban Arango a TCS student said.

TCS students need to learn that these people have other stuff to do but to clean their mess all day, they have to clean up this whole gigantic school not only the classroom but also the hallways the green areas and more.

“The cafeteria is the worst place; we take almost an hour to get the cafeteria clean and we do it twice a day, one after window and one after lunch, the kids don’t make good use of the trash cans that are located all over the place, and they do not take their plates to the appropriate place after they are done which makes the work harder for us,” Penagos added.

Leaving the cafeteria the way it is, is a way of showing to the maintenance people that we don’t care about their jobs and also is telling them that they are there to clean after us all the time, which is not true.

“The Columbus School students are known for being some spoiled rich kids that have everything done for them and when you see how they leave the classrooms and other school areas you can see that this is actually true,” Arango added

TCS students fit the spoiled rich kids’ name perfectly, they think that they don’t have any obligations and that someone’s going to do everything for them, and to change this they should

“If students give a little bit of their part and clean up a little more, our workload would decrease almost by half and things could be a little easier.” Alba Villada middle school cleaning lady said.
