We recently went to Baobar Asian Cuisine, which is nestled in the peaceful environs of El Retiro Antioquia. We were greeted inside to a breathtaking backdrop of gorgeous green mountains and an enticing combination of fragrances that suggested a gourmet adventure ahead. The smell of the cinnamon softened into the curry was immediately noticed. The friendly waiters, under the direction of the happy-go-lucky Chinese proprietor, ushered us into the lively atmosphere of the restaurant.
“Opening Baobar Asian Cuisine in El Retiro Antioquia was inspired by my passion for Asian cuisine and my desire to introduce its diverse flavors to this vibrant community,” Wang Lei, Owner, said.
The restaurant shone with mellow disco music from the 1980s and faint yellow lights as the sun sank below the horizon, creating a golden tint. The dining area was rich with activity, even on a Wednesday afternoon, which added to the festive mood. After being shown to our table, we sat down, eager to taste the famous Baobar cuisine.
“Crafting the ambiance and atmosphere at Baobar involved careful consideration of every detail, from the decor to the music selection, all aimed at creating a welcoming and memorable environment that complements the natural beauty surrounding our location,” Lei said.
We chose the house specialty, the typical Chinese pork baos, without any thought. After a short wait, the baos showed up in a visually appealing bamboo steamer, engulfed in a cloud of steam that smelled like Chinese herbs and orange sauce. Slightly woodsy from the bamboo basket, every mouthful of the fluffy bun, full of savory delight, left me wanting more.
“We prioritize sourcing ingredients directly from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to authenticity and quality. Rigorous quality control measures are in place to guarantee that only the finest ingredients make it to our kitchen,” Alejandra Perez, waiter at the restaurant, said.
The regular check-ins by co-owner Wang Lei demonstrated the attentive service that elevated the eating experience to a new level of hospitality. We indulged in the beef and vegetable dumplings, which came in the same environmentally friendly bamboo box as the baos, as suggested by Wang Lei.
What improved the experience was Baobar’s use of reusable chopsticks, a small but important step toward reducing its impact on the environment. Overall, everything about the experience at Baobar was wonderful, from the welcoming ambiance and stunning views to the delectable food prepared using genuine Asian ingredients. Anyone searching for a distinctive Asian dining experience that blends delectable cuisine with environmental consciousness should definitely check out Baobar.
“Our commitment to providing not only exceptional cuisine but also a unique dining experience, highlighted by our commitment to sustainability and the breathtaking views of El Retiro Antioquia, is what sets Baobar apart from other Asian restaurants in the area,” Lei stated.
