Copa Nosotras a Year Long Challenge

Being in the finals for the sixth time in Copa Nosotras, the TCS Girls Soccer Team consider it as one its significant tournaments.

Having participated in the finals several times before, Coach Hernan Arango and team members were prepared to face the challenge once again. One of the most meaningful tournaments they have had after Binationals, girls soccer team has succeed and have accomplished one of their main goals.

“It was very productive because we returned to be champions of the tournament after three years,” said head coach Hernan Arango.

Since 9th grade, Juana Pardo, team striker, has participated in two Copa Nosotras finals. In the first final, the team lost and got second place but that only pushed them to try harder next time. Three years later, another championship came up this time they were able to fulfill their goal.

“It has always been a tournament that we are close to winning and that we like to play, and finally, we were able to achieve it,” said Pardo.

Overall, this tournament has a lot of significance for both the coach and the team members. Not only because they are always likely to be disputing the championship as years before, but because it’s a unique experience that allows them to grow as players.

“We (Columbus) are the only team that has participated in the tournament since 2007, for my girls it’s very good because they are always in competition,” said Arango.

Team members consider this tournament to be the second most important compared to Binationals. Although, Copa Nosotras is considered to be one of the significant events in women’s soccer in Antioquia.

“Binationals is one of the key tournaments, but this cup has been significant because it is a tournament that they do in Medellín, Bogotá and Cali,” commented Pardo.

Looking to the future, the team hopes to keep improving and continue to train hard each day to conquer the cup next semester.

“The idea is to maintain the level and triumph once again,” said Arango.
