70th Anniversary Reunites Columbus School Family
The Columbus School invited all the alumni, families and staff to celebrate its 70th anniversary on Saturday the 25th from 10am to 4pm at the school campus.
One of The Columbus School main goals this year was to reconnect people who had lost all of their connections with the school as the slogan said; 70th anniversary: It’s Time To Reunite. Many students, parents and alumni attended to the family day which was full of activities in which both kids and adults could participate and have fun.
“So many generations love and admire the school. It is a whole family of parents, students and alumnus, and each time the school grows more academically, it socially impacts those who have the opportunity to be part of it,” Lili Lopez, Columbus School alumnus and teacher, said.
As many alumni said they felt nostalgic coming back to celebrate the school anniversary and seeing all the past generations together, the alumni which felt most nostalgic were the ones who had graduated recently.
“I feel nostalgia coming back to school even though I graduated not long ago,” Maria Rosa Londoño, class of 2016, said.
Many alumni come and visit the school once in awhile but because of the 70th anniversary many of them agreed to come more often.
“It’s been awhile since I last visited The Columbus School, last time I visited the school was five years ago. I would love to come back and visit the school more often,” Monica Gonzalez, class of 84, said.
Alumni came to the family day to support the school in their 70th anniversary and join as a family. The slogan adopted by The Columbus School to celebrate this year’s anniversary, 70 years it’s time to reunite, is connecting with many alumni who are participating in the celebration.
“I am very excited to see how all the graduates love and admire the school and like seeing the school grow as a whole,” Lopez said.
As stated by Monica Gonzalez many of her best friends are from the school. Students from The Columbus School spend 14 years of their live in the school campus establishing enduring relationships.
“I would love to come back to the school and be in K4 again, all the good times we used to have. The friendship that you make at school are the ones that last forever,” Maria Rosa Londoño, said.
