Seniors Give Back to the Community

The final assignment for Ms. Pereras’and Mr. Ambron’s 12th grade English classes was a Social Action Project in which students selected a social issue and participated in the cause. Students shared  their experiences with other students, teachers and parents at a fair organized by Ms. Alysa Perreras last Friday.

11th grader Laura Santamaria photo of seniors Pedro Martinez, Esteban Cadavid, Daniel Gonzalez , Luis Jose Arango and TCS Foundation coordinator Mary Luz Meza. Their presentation was about the Soccer Columbus Heart Program which they founded two year ago.
12th grader Elisa Lopez blows up a balloon to set up the @GirlsRUs presentation. The project was a campaign to raise awareness to violence towards women and promoting feminism.

Camila Sankovich gives lower elementary students pink stickers with the letter F, for feminism, printed on them. Her project @GirlsRUS was a campaign to promote feminism and end violence towards women.
Santiago Hernandez presents his project to lower elementary students, while Sofia Molina sneezes. Their project, A Mural of Diversity reminded people that everyone is different and should embrace uniqueness.
Maria Elvira Cadavid, mother of Agustin Restrepo, visits the fair with her dog to support her son’s presentation. Restrepo’s project was called Adogtion, to assist dogs find new owners.
Valentina Echeverri waits for people to come to see her presentation Truth Behind Bones. The focus of her project was to remind people that beauty is not only physical, but comes from the inside as well.

Sofia Restrepo and Mateo Gomez wear pink while presenting their project Modo Rosa, a foundation that helps women with breast cancer. One of the campaign’s goals was encouraging girls to donate their hair to make wigs for women going through chemotherapy.

Antonio Castrillon presents his project to 11th grader Mariana Salazar. His project consisted in reinforcing to middle school students the importance of being on time to class and punctuality in their lives.
