Deltarune or Undertale?

Undertale is a world where Monsters and Humans were divided because of the war between the two races. After a long battle humans were victorious and locked the monsters in the underground leaving them there for eternity. The barrier that blocks the path to liberty is so strong that it would take the souls of seven humans and one from a monster to break it. On the year 201X a child falls into the underground, unaware that Asgore Dreemurr (The king of the monsters) had already killed six humans before him, he only needed one more soul, his soul. That’s the story behind Undertale, one of the best RPGs of all time, the story, music, characters and gameplay is absolutely incomparable. Winning multiple awards such as Best Game of the Year from The Jimquisition and Zero Punctuation.

The music from Undertale has some of the best themes ever. This melodies are extremely complex, which makes them much more appreciative since each instrument and specific part of the song can be valued. Megalovania is arguably the best piece in the whole game. This song is played when you fight against Sans the skeleton during a genocide run. Both the hard battle and the explosive music playing during the encounter make this experience that much more thrilling. When I fought Sans “I could feel my sins crawling down my back.” Only fans of the game can understand that reference. It was the hardest battle I’ve ever done, it took me a lot of tries before defeating him, but one thing is for sure, I really enjoyed the music while battling him. Deltarune has also incredible music which rivals that of Megalovania, If I were to choose a song to be compared with Megalovania I would easily pick The World Revolving. This melody plays when fighting against Jevil the mad clown. His fight is very intense and to have that song play while fighting him just makes it an unforgettable adventure. Both this tunes are perhaps the best out of their games, but Megalovania rather than The World Revolving tells a story. It takes you back to the start, it brings back every action and choice you made throughout the game and finally gives you the conclusion of your decisions.

Deltarune has a very well structured story. For millennia Light and Darkness were balanced and brought peace to the world. If that balance were to be broken a great calamity would occur. When that happens only a Human, a Monster, and a Prince of Darkness could seal bring back balance and restore the world. This game’s story is incredible, you never know what’s going to happen next. I played through the whole game and I really liked it, there’s good dialogue and its relatively easy. Undertale on the other hand is a perfectly shaped game. Long ago two races ruled the earth, the Humans and the Monsters. War broke between them and with the Humans victorious. The Monsters were sent to the underground and sealed away with a barrier. In 201X a Human felled into the underground not knowing what fate she would face. This game story is even better than Deltarune because it’s much more relatable. Players can make any choice they want, and when I say any I mean ANY. But every decision brings its consequences, consequences you’ll have to face in the future. The game is intended to be played in 3 different ways but you can test the boundaries of each and have many alternative endings. The three runs are: Neutral, Genocide or True Pacifist. You can kill everything you see, kill some and befriend some or You can be friends with each and every single one of them. This game was made to be the players decision what run to do. That’s why is the best RPG ever. There’s no specific ending, you make your own ending and decide you own fate. Both games were made by Toby Fox but Undertale brought way more support than expected.

Character development gives a game its creativity and Undertale has no competition. Each character has its own story and problems, and you’ll learn about their lives through the game. Any game could have very good character development you might say. But Undertale is different, you’ll have to play the game three times and make a difference run in each. If you carefully analyze every aspect of each run and every characters way to speak and act, then you’ll really understand who they truly are. Deltarune is more centered, no matter what you do you always end up with the same ending. This in the end makes it a more boring game than Undertale. In Undertale you get to experience Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Asgore, Toriel, and much more. In Deltarune you get to experience Susie, Ralsei, and Lancer. This shows that Undertale is a much more deep game and Deltarune is more vanilla.

The best aspect that decides whether Undertale is better or not is it’s gameplay, while Deltarune may have more battle commands and more ways to battle, Undertale has feelings behind each battle and you can see that because while you fight the Monsters and creatures they talk to you. Both in Undertale and Deltarune you are a heart that moves around in order to evade attacks, but once again Deltarune is way more shallow, each monster has two to three different attacks they can make while in Undertale they always bring up something new, even the slightest changes in an attack can make the bigger difference. In the end Deltarune provides more commands and various ways to attack and decide how to battle but Undertale’s fights have impactful messages and ultimately changes your ending. Characters in Undertale even talk to you about what path you are taking during the game. This shows a connection between the game and the player. Undertale costs 23.500$ pesos on Steam while Deltarune is free. This might sound bad for Undertale but remember that for that amount of money you are buying a complete game were as Deltarune is simplistic.

Music, Story, Characters, and Gameplay are what brings life to a good game, while both this games exceed expectations in this aspects it’s clear that Undertale rules above Deltarune. I recommend playing both games, its an unimaginable experience. You can decide what fate to fulfill in Undertale or not face your consequences in Deltarune.
