NYU Visits The Columbus School High School Students

NYU came to TCS on October 25 to meet with HS students that are interested in colleges outside of the country.

11th grade students and other HS students had the opportunity to meet with NYU on room 930B with Maria Teresa, to get important information for the possible applicants from the university itself.

“That is the opportunity for them to get first hand information from the university representatives that are the ones who read the applications,” Maria Teresa, HS College Counselor, said.

NYU is ranked number 1 in hosting international students and are interested in TCS students applying to their collage, as TSC students have a high academic level and different perspectives.

“I think it is very important for colleges to have an ambiguous community since if all of the community is not form one area they might have different political perspectives or social perspectives,” Manuel Martinez, 11th grade student, said.

The average tuition and fee for two semesters in NYU is in between $50,960 and $57,924, but there are three types of financial aid: Grants, Loans, and work-study.

“NYU representative shared with us that the university is able to offer 100% economic aid if needed, but the university has to be very interested in having you in order for this to happen,” Martinez said.

Most students admitted to NYU rank in the top percent of their class and have a GPA of at least 3.7.

“Science NYU is a top percentile school its acceptance rate is likewise to a top private school such as Harvard,” Martinez said.

The accept rate of  NYU’s New York City campus was 20%, but NYU as well as the Columbus School gives the opportunity for TCS students to be part of that 20%.

“We have one student in the faculty of engineering which is one of the toughest faculties for them to be accepted because it is very competitive and the grades they ask for are really high,” Maria Teresa said.
