New Soccer Coach at TCS

TCS is betting on the idea of having a new soccer coach with more experience and a more proactive leadership towards students.

Two weeks ago, the new soccer coach arrived at The Columbus School. Andres Cadavid is a Colombian ex professional goalkeeper who is here to train soccer players from all three sections. Cadavid has worked in the field for over 30 years, and he played at a professional level and was part of some of the biggest soccer clubs in the country.

“He can really multitask in terms of soccer; he will be with me covering all the areas but actually focusing on the goalkeepers. His purpose is to improve the quality of the players game and for that we needed someone with a lot of experience,” said Urbano Mesa, P.E teacher and soccer coach.

Additionally, TCS rules have changed from what they were before. Before, they were only allowed one coach per game. The new rule is that for each competition the team needs to either move around or travel to other cities with an assistant coach as well.

” The rules in TCS are changing, so it is always required that an assistant is present during the traveling,” stated Luis Fernando Rodriguez P.E and soccer coach at TCS.

Professionalism and wisdom is clear in Cadavid, the TCS expectations towards players is really high; but they are asking for this with the help of experts and people who really know what they are doing.

“This year he has started working with us, for the first time. We had had an assistant and never one that had been professional in this area,” said Mesa.

On the other hand, Cadavid hadn’t been officially presented to the TCS soccer players. In this moment he is unrecognizable in our school but as soon as the binationals conflict is ended and the team is standardized, he will be.

“Andres Cadavid is going to be present to all the soccer players when all this binationals conflict is over and all the students that are going to be in poly are the ones that are going to play the cups with any punishments.”

The TCS teaching quality is increasing, as this is the first time in a couple of years it is the first time that they have a personal assistant with that level of knowledge in these field. Also it is the first time that the soccer area has a ex professional soccer player with the players all trainers.

” No never. (For a specific) Goalkeeper coaches it is the first time.” Luis Fernando Rodriguez P.E and soccer coach at TCS said
