New ISP method implemented this year

ISP’s were presented by the TCS seniors May 29 and 30 which had to include a proposal for the place they decided to work at.

The proposal was supposed to include an environmental, social and economic change and it was presented to the administrators of the workplace. They also had to create a prototype to present at the independent.

“Our proposal was for people to get to know the brand and to make the tags of the clothing a biodegradable material that contained seeds so that people could contribute to the environment,” Ana Sofia Ramirez, twelth-grade student said.

The seniors started learning various pieces for their independents in Alyssa’s class from August to December and then began working on their project from there until the day of the presentations. The class given was called system theory, and all students received it.

“System theory with Alyssa was to be applied it in the independent. But the work for the actual project started this year 2018, and more in-depth during the third quarter,” Camilo Diez twelth-grade student said.

Many projects had initiatives including la Guajira because it is a current problem we see every day in Colombia. Some of the people who did these were Mariana Salazar, Catalina Echeverri, Andrea Alvarez and Lusiana Arango. Their proposals included the idea to give part of their profit to help in la Guajira.

“Basically we started working with Tosh and came up with the idea to launch a special edition called S.O.S Guajira, and 1% of the profit earned with the product would go to a plant of internal osmosis. The purpose of the plant is to turn saltwater into drinkable water because the problem we saw is that many kids are dying of hunger and dehydration,” Mariana Salazar said.

Another project idea was to build a rehab center for patients who have gone through surgeries to rehabilitate and regain their original movement. The company who does this is called Industrias Medicas Sampedro, and they are experts in bone fixing solutions.

“We proposed to make a rehabilitation center where the company could keep track of their post-op patients and help them with their rehabilitation so that in the future they can go back to their normal life without any problems,” Camilo Diez added.

Many other projects included proposals to help save the marine life by reducing plastic usage, and others wanted to give to those in need by giving them a job or something to do.

“I think that this projects will give huge opportunities for companies to expand in both social and economical ways, and it will also give many people greater chances of a better life. We as students are putting our part to help the world with this project,” Ramirez added.
