RIP AVICII

Tim Bergling also known by the name of Avicii was pronounced dead April 20th, 2018. Because of his young age and global impact it has created mixed feelings among some TCS students. Bergling, born the 8th of September of 1989 started his career as a DJ at the young age of 16. By 21 he debuted world-wide with his single “Levels” and two years later released his album “True”. After his album release at the main stage of Ultra Music Festival, Bergling started making a name for himself.

He managed to rank as #1 on spotify’s global chart and at 2 in most streamed artist world wide. One of the singles, “Wake Me Up” from his album “True” became the fastest selling single in the UK for 2013. 11 months later after his #1 hit on November, 2013 he won the American Music Award for “Favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist”.

Fast forwarding into his career, three years and 22 songs later Bergling announced his retirement on March 29th on his Facebook page. Before being pronounced dead he managed to release six more songs on 2017 to which he said; “I’m really excited to be back with music once again. It has been a long time since I released anything and a long time since I was this excited over new music!”.

After the big News of his passing several TCS students have shared their great discomfort and deep sorrow. His music had a great meaning for everyone as junior Samuel Vieira said, “his music was important and it really helped people go through difficult times, including me.” Tim was recognized by the students not only as an excellent musician and person, and this connection with them was mostly what shock students the most. “It incorporates old sounds and puts into a new musical landscape, which is today’s EDM” “his suicide really hit me to the core”, said Federico Gutierrez, 11th grade student. Also people outside the TSC community felt an impact as said musical producer Sebastian Mejia;“He was an idol for me, an amazing musician and person”.

During his career Tim managed to impact many people and actually connect with their inner self and feelings. “I felt like the world had lost not just an artist but someone that had reached to the hearts of people” Samuel Vieira 11th grade student said he also added; “I even got a tattoo of his logo on my arm because I feel deeply saddened by his loss”.
