It can be easily said that Medellin has the most innovative kitchen in Colombia and through the years has transformed it into a thriving location promoting great food scenes. Located in one of the most popular, dazzling streets of Medellin, in La Calle 10, lies the luxurious restaurant known as La Causa. From its charming decor to its mouth-watering Nikkei (Japanese and Peruvian) food, La Causa proves to be simply irresistible and a restaurant everyone must try in Medellín.

In the middle of an outstandingly beautiful of a street full of restaurants, La Causa stands out for its varied menu and vintage, but simplistic decorations.  Looking deeper into the menu, La Causa offers what is known as Nikkei food, which is essentially a perfect combination of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. With plates that go from special kinds of rice, to sushi and a heavenly dessert known as “La Causa de Milo”, the experience as a whole is an incomparable combination of flavors.  La Causa offers some of best dishes in the entire city, these being “El Arroz Nazca”, which is basically a sweet rice with melted cheese and fried shrimp, “La causa Kai”, which is a classic Peruvian dish with yellow potatoes, cream cheese, avocado and shrimp, and the spectacular “Causa de Milo”, which is a fried cookie with ice cream, condensed milk or “lechera”, caramel and a Medellin classic, Milo. When taking a look at other Nikkei restaurants such as Wakame, differences can be noticed. For starters, sushi in Wakame feels a lot fresher, as they also have more options of flavors and types of sushi. This being said, La Causa’s service completely beats service in Wakame, as waiters from La Causa look like they’re enjoying what they do and make customers feel welcome all the time.

Another famous restaurant in Medellin is Mistura, which also holds Nikkei food, but is still incomparable to the dishes offered by La Causa. Mistura is what most would call an overly priced, “ok” restaurant, which makes the experience there not worth it at all. On the other hand, La Causa offers an outstanding menu, with prices and food quality surpassing Mistura by miles. In La Causa, every flavor, ever condiment makes a difference, which is ultimately why it is so highly rated all across the city. Another restaurant who also offers Nikkei food is Kabuki. In contrast to La Causa, Kabuki offers a closed and even boring menu, only serving very specific types of sushi that are not really for everyone, while La Causa offers such a large variety, everyone can find the dish perfect for them. Furthermore, the location of La Causa is absolutely perfect, since La Calle 10 is full of tourists and the restaurant offers tables both inside and outside, making two different environments that really engage visitors to take part in the entire gastronomic experience.

As an extremely strong competitor in the world of gastronomy, La Causa has one specific thing to improve: the quality of their sushi. Since it is not their main dish, chef’s in this restaurant seem to forget about the sushi at times, which causes their fish or rice not to be as fresh as in restaurants such as Wakame. This being said, La Causa’s sushi is far from terrible but it could use a little more effort and dedication, which could take the restaurant to an even higher level.

As an amazing experience for customers, La Causa never fails to impress all those who sit at their tables, exploring new areas while combining the deliciousness of Japanese and Peruvian dishes. With impeccable decoration, alongside delicious meals and a vibrant setting, La Causa is definitely a must go it comes to eating out in Medellin having an unforgettable experience.
