Roman Christmas

This Christmas break, seventh grade students are stressed out since they believe they won’t be able to complete their roman project, be with their family and enjoy their vacation all at the same time.

Rafael Giraldo, World History seventh grade teacher assigned their students a project about Rome, where they are required to build something characteristic of the Roman culture from years ago and the present it in front of the class. Students who didn’t finish it this last weeks are concerned they will not be able to work on it during vacation time.

“I believe we don’t have a lot of time in the school or outside of it to complete all of our required work, plus all the extracurriculars we participate on. This project was assigned some weeks ago, my partner and I have been working hard we are almost done but we are also worried we won’t be able to finish it” Ana Mercedes Restrepo, seventh grade student.

This project requires a lot of different skills and time, since it includes building. They have to build either a Roman colosseum, the aqueduct, arch, pantheon in between others. Students are anxious not only for the construction but also for the fact they have to present it and learn everything about their structure.

“Everyone has at least a partner on the project, I am completely alone, also, I have several IE’s to complete, finish general school work, go exercise plus I’m going on a trip on december vacations, I am really stressed out with everything I have to do,” said Manuela Rueda, 7th grade student.

Seventh grade students argue they won’t be able to finish their work on time, but Rafael Giraldo disagrees since each class had enough time, working space during school hours and different tools to successfully complete their project.

“They have more than enough time to complete everything required for this assignment.” Giraldo said.
