Middle School interacting with soldiers

As an interactive way to encourage younger students to have some appreciation and true respect for our national army, TCS counseling organization invited a group of soldiers the past May 11th.

Middle School students at TCS welcomed the national heroes with a warm and loud applause after their arrival to school last May 11th. The main purpose of this visit was for the students to appreciate the effort and risky job this group of soldiers do to keep us safe in Colombia. Many times kids don’t realize the danger and risks these people need to go through in order to make this country a safe place, so the intent of this interactive encounter was to make the students comprehend and learn about how much this army means for the nation.

“Many people never think about how much effort soldiers make in order to protect  citizens and give them a chance to live in a peaceful country day to day,” explained a retired soldier Juan Ramiro Londoño.

Not to mention, more than 60 percent of the students who attended this assembly affirm that their knowledge about how important the national army is for the country has grown after they had the chance to interact and hear the stories of these people who provide military service.

“We need to thank the Colombian National Army for many things they provide us in our daily basis, such as security, peace and freedom. These heroes work far away from their families in order that we can feel safe at home every day, this is why we need to appreciate this demanding job,” assured the 8th grade student Tomás Castro.

To say the least, teachers and directors thought the interaction between students and national army soldiers was really helpful and educational for every single individual in Middle School.

“Kids are the future of this nation, we think it’s the correct thing for them to start noticing from a young age to be thankful and appreciate the hard labor and sacrifices that army people need to make in order for us to live quality lives,” stated Middle School principal Juan David López.
