The Columbus School hosted a mass to honor  Juan Jose Becerra on Friday May 26 in the theater. Mr. Becerra, the father of Columbus School 11th grade Isabel Becerra, passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. Mr.Becerra  was a long time Medellin radio personality who was well known throughout the community.

Juan Jose Becerra was 56 years old. He was a professor in EAFIT, an entrepreneur and general manager in Vox Marketing. During his career in communications Mr. Becerra was associated with Teleantioquia and Caracol Radio among others and  his voice was well known throughout Antioquia.

Approximately 150 students, parents and Columbus School staff attended.

“I feel sad because of the death of Juan Jose Becerra. He was full of life. I feel pain for Angela, Isabel, Catalina, his mother, his brothers and the mother-in-law who is watching his granddaughters and daughter suffer. I feel the death of a loved one is very hard, but God helps to continue living without that being,” Vicky Jaramillo, High School Vice Principal, said.
