Urban Ribs in Search of Greatness

Medellin has build up a big name becoming one of the most visited cities in the country for tourism, and incredible food experiences. Going from acclaimed international restaurants featuring Italian, French, Argentinian, and more flavors; up to new urban experiences with fast food places. Federal Ribs has caught a lot of attention since its opening in late 2018 for the rib steak fanatics. Located in the “calle de la Buena Mesa”,  it is one of the restaurants with a very favorably location.  All this advantages are exploited once you go through your eating experience; with a combination of excellent professionalism and well prepared food, Federal Ribs leaves great impression.

Federal Ribs keeps the menu very traditional, but they give some alternative options to the costumer. Places like Chilis, which are also famous for their ribs, allow the customer to choose from a menu that contains various types of Ribs and other types of food. Once you take a glance at the menu from Federal Ribs, you are given an option to either choose some fantastic burgers, tenders, nuggets, steaks, and obviously the unique ribs.  They also do a very good job having a good variation of beers and drinks. They have all type of teas, sodas, and both imported and local beers. In comparison to other rib restaurants, Federal Ribs would be catalogued as a restaurant with a well crafted menu. Rib places must have space for personalisation, and other options if you are not in the mood of ribs that day.

Federal Ribs has a very good location, and they make a better use of it. The establishment is distributed very efficiently with appropriate space in between tables, which allows a maximization of the capacity of the restaurant. But they are missing out in the urban experience that can be offered to the customers. They could add 6-9 tables outside, which can also give customers different seating options. Another great idea is that they could make a deck which is something all the great restaurants in Medellín do in order for people to have a classy urban experience. This allows the clients to enjoy the space of the famous “calle la Buena Mesa”. This is a famous sector of the city where restaurants like; “Tal Cual”, “Boutique de la Buena Mesa”, and “Rodizio” set the bar for dining in the city.

In the general, Federal Ribs’  most known plate, the American inspired Ribs, was looking outrageous in the sense of quality. The ribs’ meat was very juicy and the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce had a perfect texture and looked great on top of the rack. Compared to other great American Rib restaurants such as Chilis, you can make an idea of what well done ribs look like. The taste of a full rack of ribs with a high variety of sauces, and different varieties of fries doesn’t really go very far from the eating experience that Federal Ribs offers to the public.The fries were at the prefect point, the crunchy sensation mixed with paprika made the after taste special. The good look of the plate, completely matched the taste of the American Ribs, they had the appropriate amount of each ingredient making a perfect balance for the perfect meal.

Once you are ready to leave and pay for the food, efficiency takes over the place. The 6 to 12 waiters are trying to accommodate all the people that don’t have a table, while they attend people that are waiting for their order to be taken. This allows the registrator to be totally free, making people gratified of the fast and efficient service. Once more, the manage of space has made the place excellent as well. Places like Romero have a waiting zone which allows people to know the availability at all times. The other advantage is that there is a good amount of personnel, like in Romero, there are more than 20 waiters making it a very attentive service. Finally, in a result of more personnel and space for all people, when it’s time to order and pay, there is always someone that will help your request in a faster way.

Federal Ribs is a growing restaurant that is leaving a legacy with American ribs in Colombia. Slowly they have grown both in service and food excellence. Even Though they have simple things to work on , they have established a solid structure in order to make it work at its best.
