The Stress Increases With the Arrival of the End of the Bimester

The teachers at TCS are experts at leaving all the work for the end of the bimester. Second bimester started out passive and calm. Students got to sleep, watch TV, and participate in their extracurricular activities without skipping any homework for the next day. This all changed when the end of the bimester arrived, the level of difficulty and workload 11th graders increased drastically. Therefore teachers should use wisely the time of the entire bimester and spread the amount of work.

Maria Jose Velez an 11th grader affected by this tremendous problem really hopes some changes are made. Her time in extracurricular activities, such as the gin and spend time with her family and friends, have been severely cut short. “at the beginning of the term I told my dad that I had the time to go to the gym, so he signed me up.  But now I always receive a call from him scolding me and wondering why I didn’t go to the gym. This problem not only stress me out, but also creates family problems” Velez said. She not only stopped going to the gym, she also stopped spending quality time with her family. “4 weeks ago, Maria came home to rest, do homework and go to the gym. by eight o’clock she was home ready to spend time with her family. Now in days she gets home to study until eleven o’clock, but even sometimes she takes more time and stays awake for much time” Maria Jose’s mother said.

Even though this problem is very clear, some teachers, such as Mauricio (the statistic teacher of 11th grade ) they deny its existence. “No, I didn’t leave all the work for the last hour; I taught the material of the three exams in a row, and then I did the 3 exams followed one another,” Maurico said. For many students this logic doesn’t work. “its much better that he teach the material and then having the quiz, not that he teach all of the content, for then having 3 exams in a row. This “technique” doesn’t have logic at all because the material for the first exam is not fresh and something can be forgotten for the quiz” Mariana Diez an 11th grader said.

A very colossal problem, but with simple solutions. Having a calendar to organize the entire bimester, and, maybe not having the year separated by bimestrial, because this segments when are coming to an end, only causes teachers to rush and to students to stress.
