Thor: Ragnarok, Third Time´s a Charm

Marvel universe released Thor:Ragnarok in October 2017, the third movie about this character coming up as a total success. After Thor: The Dark World, released in 2013, was ranked as the worst Marvel movie in numerous sites including Rotten Tomatoes; Marvel comes up with an innovative and comedical approach to action movies.

Throughout the previous decade, Marvel has set the standard for superhero movies where the combination of science fiction and action keeps the audience wanting for more. In the case of Thor:Ragnarok, viewers were not disappointed. The movie was thrilling, emotional and funny all together being highly entertaining.

Something generally not seen in movies, is when the actors are talking directly to the audience as it if was another character. After Marvel implemented this in Deadpool released in 2016, it became sort of a trend and is being used more often. The movie begins with Thor locked in a cage while he speaks personally to the viewer, making an unusual connection that surprised many. This new way of connecting with the audience allowed the scene to be interpreted better and make it more real.

In the current cinema era, we are all expecting incredible effects and realistic scenes in all this supernatural movies. Thor: Ragnarok fulfills this criteria with incredible character effects and scene creation. Characters that are completely fictional seem real with immersive details, and battle effects including “magic” are all realistic and fitting. The whole cinematographic experience is vivid and entertaining.

The plot of the movie was interesting and unpredictable, with unexpected fellow heroes like The Incredible Hulk in remote places. This connection between movies makes Marvel fans proud and adds a sense of nostalgia that helps the plot altogether. However, the plot was lacking something, some more emotions or sad moments. It was also a bit rushed, where the actual important plot line happened quickly in the last minutes. Still the movie was enjoyable and had some shockers the fans were not expecting.

An important aspect of the movie is the change in personality of Thor. Marvel fans were used to seeing Thor as the serious and objective hero, just like Captain America in most of the movies. These characters always followed the “rules” and protocols. However, in this movie Thor was more like an Ironman that took a more relaxed and funny perspective. This change was significant and the viewers responded positively as the sequels were getting boring.

Thor:Ragnarok is an action packed, funny and unexpected Marvel movie that is worth watching. It is certainly entertaining and allows a viewing experience that is unique and innovative. The movie lives up to the standard set by Marvel Studios and will improve previous disapointments set by Thor: Dark World. It truly is one of the best Action movies of the year.
