GIN Members Travel To Peru

The GIN members of the school are traveling this 23rd of April to Lima, Peru to present their project and their workshops to different people around the world.

The purpose of the conference is for the GIN team (Global Issues Network) of TCS to present their own ideas and hear the presentation of other people to have more innovative ideas that could potentially make a difference in the world. A few eleven graders are attending the conference.

“The objective of the trip is to present the project in the hopes that other students can apply it to their own schools and for you to see other project that can be applied to TCS,” Alejandro Escobar, member of GIN, said.

Students are motivated to work with this network since it influences their ideas and allows them to acquire more knowledge of other cultures and how they handle the environmental challenges they face.

“Many students go with creative and innovative ideas that you wouldn’t think of, and it’s a great place to get inspired and truly see what can be done better at the school,” Escobar said.

These GIN participants have been truly dedicated to their work, leading to a huge improvement in their social and environmental skills, transforming into world leaders.

“GIN deals with more than just environmental issues, it helps you grow as a leader and as a person, it has become my passion,” Maria Pia Molina, 11th grade student, member of GIN said.

The school has been nominated this year to do a Keynote presentation which is an achievement and a benefit for the GIN crew.

“Some of us are doing a keynote about how we tackle different everyday challenges, in front of the entire GIN audience which happens very occasionally, we are very proud to have been selected to do this for the second time,” Molina said.

Having other people’s opinion has become of utmost importance to the GIN members, since listening to different approaches can change the minds of our future leaders.

The idea that participating in GIN can allow them to change the world, has made them feel empowered and proud of what they have and will achieve.

“GIN became empowering to me, you are actually making real changes in the school and in the world,” Escobar said.
