The 6 word sentence that turned things around

In La Enseñanza’s model UN, a TCS student had the guts to send an inappropriate message to another delegate. The Columbus School took over the incident leading to a three day suspension.

Cemun, the prestigious United Nations’ Model, is held annually in Christian school La Enseñanza. It is a great chance for students to discuss world wide issues and meet new people. However, Samuel Vieira, an 11th grade  TCS student , decided to switch things around by sending  an inappropriate message to one of the delegates in his commission. What seemed like a harmless message ended up being the cause of a three day suspension and an obstacle for one of his dreams.

“I was in model UN in La Enseñanza , and I  sent an inappropriate message to a girl via floor secretaries and one of the  floor secretaries snitched,” said Vieira.

Vieira claims he was just fooling around, and sent a message to a girl from his commission; what he didn’t think about  was the consequences of his six word sentence.

When asked about his motive he said, “Have you seen that girl? She is gorgeous,” said Vieira.

After the Columbus School found about the incident, the principal decided to give Vieira a three day suspension; two days at school and one day at home.

“I needed to stay the whole entire day at Vicky’s [vice principal] office, I had to ask permission to go to the bathroom, and leave the room, I couldn’t talk to anyone, it was complete isolation”, said Vieira.” An hour seemed like a year, by far the longest two days of my life”.

Alejandro Gomez; the 11 grade STUCO [Student Council]  and multiple time model UN participant, gave his opinion on the subject.

“I do think that it was immature from Samuel to send the note, especially in a serious environment like a Model of the United Nations, but I do think that it was a little excessive; a 3 day suspension since it affected his grades as well,” said Gomez.

Vieira has now finished his three day suspension, however his punishments are not over. He will no longer be able to be a vice president for The Columbus School’s model UN. He knows what he did and he is willing to pay the price of his mistakes.

“I am back and better than ever”, said Vieira.
