Bohemian Rhapsody, and its impact on TCS students

TCS students are in love with the new movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, directed by Bryan Singer. Many students were enthusiastic for the movie by seeing the trailer and had the opportunity to watch the movie during the premier night  the 1st of November 2018. The movie displays the creation of the iconic band Queen and the life of the main singer Freddie Mercury.

The film shows the band’s iconic songs and revolutionary sound, the extrovertism of Mercury’s lifestyle, and their mouth opening concert event in Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances. Many students believe that the main success of this movie was due to this scenes happening.

Impact on TCS student lifes:

Bohemian Rhapsody is all around famous celebration of Queen, displaying their music and the formation of the band. Many students thought that the movie was heart touching and exciting to see for both kids and adults. “This movie was special for many people due to the nostalgia. The story of Queen is really powerful because the members of the band had nothing and became one of the greatest band in its era. It also touched the heart of many people across the world,” Pedro Juan Henao, 11th Grade student, said.

The movie was made so viewers that did not have prior knowledge about Queen could still understand their music and history. “ I really liked Bohemian Rhapsody because at first I didn’t know anything about Queen and its history, and it was really interesting to see the life of a legend such as Freddie Mercury and how he had formed his band,” Sebastian Garces, 11th Grade Student, said.

Students that are a long time fans of Queen, can share their joy of Queen with many more people that are getting to know Queen throughout the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. “ I think it is a great way to introduce to a lot of people that did not know about Queen through the movie and I am really happy that my friends and people around the world loved it,” Juan Felipe Gaviria, 11th Grade Student and STUCO, said.

The movie does more than explaining Queen`s life to the viewers but it shows the long living legacy they created. “I think Freddie is an extraordinary lead singer, who defied stereotypes and thought in a uncommon way to become one of the most loved entertainers on the planet. In the movie, viewers can see the legacy the band created, that made an emphasis on family, and the band continues to inspire future dreamers and music lovers to this day,” Gaviria, said.

Movie Characteristics:

Rami Malek  plays an amazing job as impersonating Freddie Mercury in the movie. “There is many things I loved about the movie. One of the most outstandings things I liked from the movie were the actors, the actors were on point. They were identical to the band, and Rami Malek that played Freddie Mercury did an incredible job,” Henao, said.

His interpretation is recognized all around the world due to the vividness while performing songs, the same movements and lifestyle all leading to the the overall resemblance of Freddie Mercury. The movie replicated some of their most famous moments such as the Live Aid concert, and the performances that were done in the United States. “While I was watching the movie, even though I never saw them in real life, I felt connected with them in some way. Many powerful scene made me get goosebumps” Henao, said.

According to Bryan Singer the movie was splitted into three parts, the first part was to bring the viewers absolute joy, the second part was to create a unique entertainment, and the third part was to make the viewers forget everything else around them as they were watching the movie.

World Wide Viewers:

The movie was released on October 24, 2018 in the U.K and has been expected all around the world. Out of 10,541 people that rated the movie on the platform Rottentomatoes, 94% of the people liked it and gave it an average of 4.6/5 rating. The movie is ranked 11th among all the movies released in 2018. The movie made a sky high 50.1 million dollars on its opening weekend and a total of 285 million dollars across the world, only 18 days after its release date. Fans all around the world love the recreation of the songs: Somebody to Love, Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Love of My Life, Another One Bites the Dust, We are the Champions and one of their most recognized songs We Will Rock You.
