This picture is showing El Cerrejon, the biggest coal mine in La Guajira. It has mostly a negative impact on the environment, although for the economy it appears positive despite the community not receiving much of the profit. The mine transports water from the river to the mine to decrease the coal powder in the air. But this is making the lives of the Wayuu communities really hard improve and to  survive. We have to do something about that. First, we can talk about what is causing the problems. Next, Cerrejon should reconsider how to manage the social and environmental programs they do so that they can help the communities to a greater degree.
